Blockchain-Enabled Voting System with Biometric Authentication: A Secure and Transparent Approach to Elections

Abstract

An advanced blockchain-based voting system that combines biometric authentication to solve security and transparency issues as well as the lack of efficiency experienced in conventional voting systems is presented in this paper. Because of the decentralized and immutable design of blockchain, votes are secure to manipulation and biometric authentication makes sure voters are who they say they are which reduces the risks of any fraud or identity theft. This dual system fosters transparency in the sense that votes are verifiable in real time which will in turn increase public confidence in electoral process. Additionally, it saves the logistical costs of setting up paper-based polling stations and payloads instead of having to establish and disestablish physical voting facilities, making it scalable from small town to federal election level. By employing a blockchain, voters can vote in a secret ballot, but an auditable ballot, and validate that their vote is counted for the preferred candidate, all in a transparent, secure, and efficient manner, and without the need for conventional election systems, which are expensive, difficult to operate, and require extensive infrastructure investment. Our conceptual model emphasizes the potential of blockchain and biometrics as great tools to transform electoral systems, providing better accessibility, mitigating fraud, and improving efficiency in the resolution of election results.
